CCTV Interviews Boarden at Munich Electronica

This episode features a special interview with Mr. Li, General Manager of Boarden Electronics, on CCTV’s “Made in China, Strong Nation” program, recorded during the Electronica China exhibition. The following is the transcript from the video, now shared with everyone.

Hello, dear viewers. I’m honored to be interviewed by CCTV’s “Made in China, Strong Nation” program. Let me start with a brief self-introduction.

I’m the founder and General Manager of Shanghai Boarden Electronics. Our company specializes in circuit protection, which is a niche segment within the electronics industry. We like to describe ourselves as the “police” of the electronics world — wherever there is electricity, there are circuit safety concerns, and that’s where we come in.

Boarden is built on a solid technical foundation, and our mission is: “We Make Electrical Circuits More Safe and Reliable.”

We position ourselves as a one-stop solution provider for circuit protection. What does that mean? It means we start with on-site diagnosis of the customer’s circuit protection needs, then provide tailored solutions based on that diagnosis. We offer a full range of circuit protection components, EMC lab testing, and follow-up technical support. That’s what we mean by one-stop service.

Our key strength lies in product innovation.

As everyone knows, the industry today faces two major pain points:

  1. Fierce internal competition (price wars), and
  2. Rising demand for localization due to global trade tensions.

Boarden is addressing both effectively.

First, in the field of ceramic-based circuit protection components, there has long been a lack of mainstream domestic suppliers — it’s been dominated by international brands. We are the first company in China to scale up and promote such products domestically, giving us a strong foundation in localization.

Second, while power semiconductors are highly competitive, we deliberately chose to focus on a technically demanding and less crowded category: High-Energy Multilayer Varistors (MLVs).

Thanks to these strategic choices, we’ve continued to grow steadily even in a challenging economy — maintaining profitability and attracting attention from capital markets. This validates the direction we chose from the beginning.

This time at Electronica China, our main goal is to expand into industries beyond lighting. In our field, there’s a saying: “Where there is electricity, there is a varistor.”

But with today’s trend toward miniaturization, surface-mounting, and lightweight designs, circuit protection components must also evolve accordingly.

Our high-energy SMD varistors are perfectly aligned with these trends and are well-suited for broader applications beyond lighting — such as induction cookers, automotive electronics, new energy systems, and smart homes.

We hope this exhibition helps us discover new opportunities, connect with new partners, and inspire more industry peers to explore this product category with us. Let’s work together — share ideas, support one another, and promote the adoption of high-energy SMD varistors throughout the electronics industry.

In doing so, we not only support China’s localization efforts but also contribute to the long-term growth of Boarden Electronics.

Thank you all very much!
